The Summit is organized under the auspices of the General Consulate of Romania in Chicago, by volunteers belonging to the associative entities of the community, nonprofit organizations, religious and non-religious groups, etc. representing the entire Romanian American community in Chicago.

What is special about the 2024 edition?

The goals of the 2024 edition of the Chicago Romanian Community Summit are set to build on the foundation laid by the previous year’s achievements while expanding its scope and impact within and beyond the Romanian Community in Chicago. The focus areas for this edition are:

Expanding Partnership Networks: Aim to significantly increase the number of participating partners by engaging more groups, religious institutions, and organizations from other ethnic backgrounds, enhancing the Summit’s diversity and collaborative potential.
Exploring New Community Interests: To delve deeper into identifying topics that resonate with the community, facilitating discussions that uncover pressing issues, potential areas for development, and opportunities for cross-community collaboration.
Fostering Youth Involvement and Leadership: Prioritize the engagement of young members of the Romanian Community by introducing specific sessions or workshops aimed at youth empowerment, leadership development, and career guidance. Establish a youth advisory board to contribute ideas and perspectives to the Summit planning.

The Chicago Romanian Community Summit

In February 2023 - at the first annual Chicago Romanian Community Summit - community leaders, members of nonprofit organizations, churches, businesses, academia and artistic groups came together in a series of panels to engage, collaborate, and strengthen our community spirit.

In the poignant words of Robert Dumitrescu, Deputy Consul General of Romania in Chicago and event panelist, “We strongly hope this is only a starting point of an advancement towards a better, more unified, and more comprehensive representation of our community.”
