As part of an effort to build a long-term business-oriented ecosystem in the Romanian American community, Romanian United Fund and the Consulate General of Romania in Chicago kicked off a series of business-oriented events, with the goal of introducing immediate and actionable investment opportunities on both sides of the Atlantic.

Our kickoff conference targeted high net-worth individuals in the Romanian Diaspora and focused on the red-hot Romanian technology sector**. During this 90 minutes moderated discussion, our panelists introduced to the Romanian American business community 3 startups and 2 of the most visible and successful venture capital funds from Romania. Goals: jump-start the creation of a Community of Angels, with vetted representatives in major cities, to connect the business deal flow in Romanian IT with American and Romanian American counterparties.

An interest sheet (a signup/feedback form) was circulated after the meeting. Using it, participants were able to express their own interest in future events. The results of the survey can be found here.

Follow-up conferences will focus on Institutional relations building, and quite possibly other fields perceived to be of high interest, such as startups in the United States, real-estate on both sides of the Atlantic, robotics, cryptography, biotechnology, cryptos etc. You will be able to express your own interest in such future conferences by participating in our first conference, on March 18th.
