Fundatia Inima de Copil (Heart of a Child Foundation) was established in 1996 by a group of Romanian volunteers in one of the poorest Romanian area, the South East area, Galati county. Today, the foundation supports monthly 250-300 children in need and their families, work with 25+ employees, professionals in the field of social services, 30 monthly volunteers, and over 20 communities.

In order to fulfill our mission to provide a better life for children from Romania, our projects aim: Respect children s rights to have a family and to fulfill their potential and their education; Prevent family abandonment and keep children together with their families; Reduce poverty, increase life quality for children and their families.

Our projects cover 3 important areas: social, education, and health. They are completed by the Heart of a Child Workshop which sells hand manufactured products and sustains the organization’s mission.

Ever since our first project we count: 15.000 children and families at risk supported, over 5 mil euro raised and invested into the community.

We support now children and families from Galați, Vrancea, Brăila, and Vaslui counties, offering regional support for the children and their families. Throughout our programs, we offer children material support, access to basic food, school supplies, development programs, therapy sessions, customized to their needs.

PROGRAMS FOR CHILDREN AT SOCIAL RISK

We aim to: Offer a continuous education to children, reduce marginalization risk; Support children’s personal development, and fulfilling their potential; Helping families and preventing children from being institutionalized.

In 2019 we helped 305 children; run three Day centers and after school programs and other special projects; we supported 270+ indirect beneficiaries. We provided 8.000+ hours of education and activities for children and served over 20.000 meals.

”One village, One child” scholarship program

Created with the purpose of supporting development and education for children with high potential from rural areas; we provided scholarships for 53 children, from rural areas, from Galați, Vrancea, and Vaslui counties.

PROGRAMS FOR CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES

Recovery and rehabilitation center for children with disabilities

For children with disabilities or developmental delays; Therapy sessions (physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, cognitive development in the multisensory room); Parents support groups; Monthly birthday parties; Special projects – for inclusion in schools and community.

In 2019 we had 65 beneficiaries. We held 7.000+ therapy sessions for the children from Galați, Tulcea, Brăila counties.

HEART OF A CHILD Workshop – over 7.290 manufactured products
