Lucacel, known for his evocative works that blend traditional materials with modern sensibility, will guide participants in crafting a personal painting collage — a unique artwork that incorporates fabric, textures, and memories brought from home. Guests are encouraged to bring pieces of cloth, old towels, or cherished textiles that hold sentimental value, transforming them into art that can be proudly displayed and passed down.

  • Costs of Materials for the Workshop

ROCO will acquire the necessary materials for the participants' projects. A donation of $40 per project is kindly requested to cover these costs. This contribution can also be paid with Zelle at [email protected]

About the Artist

Flavius Lucacel is a Romanian artist from Transylvania, celebrated for blending traditional heritage with contemporary artistic expression. His works combine acrylic painting on fabric and canvas with authentic woven textiles — many crafted by women from his native village, Aluniș, Sălaj — including pieces once created by his own mother - as well as materials collected from numerous villages across Romania, each bearing the distinctive handiwork of local women . This connection to folk traditions imbues his art with depth, identity, and tenderness.

Lucacel is a member of Romanian Artist Connection (RoArtConn), a network of Romanian-born artists active across Europe and the United States. His creations have been showcased in venues such as the Silpe Gallery at Hartford Art School, Chen Art Gallery at Central Connecticut State University, Galeria Cuhnia (Mogoșoaia), ICR Madrid, and the National Museum of the Romanian Peasant in Bucharest. His works—seen in exhibitions like Silvania, Edenul din Silvania, and Chipuri ale Luminii—reflect timeless themes of identity, memory, and belonging.

Rediscover the joy of art, memory, and cultural connection this holiday season with ROCO and Flavius Lucacel.
