About the speaker Raluca Gabriela Pavel
Meet Raluca Gabriela Pavel – Where Passion for Democracy Meets Real-World Impact
Raluca Gabriela Pavel is a rising star in political science and a PhD candidate at Loyola University Chicago, where she dives deep into how everyday people can shape their communities through local political participation. Her cutting-edge research explores the transformative power of Participatory Budgeting, revealing how it influences both elections and civic life.
In the classroom, Raluca brings energy and purpose, teaching courses on civic engagement that inspire students to see themselves as active builders of democracy. She believes that politics isn’t just for politicians—it’s for everyone.
When she’s not breaking down barriers in political science, you’ll find Raluca playing tennis, hitting the running trails, or soaking up sunshine at a Cubs game—cheering on Chicago with the same passion she brings to her work.
