Meet Our Speakers


Andreea Raicu, MD

Dr. Andreea Raicu, a dedicated breast oncology surgeon, began her academic journey at the University of Illinois, majoring in Biology and Spanish. She pursued her medical studies at the University of Chicago, followed by a residency in General Surgery at UIC. Dr. Raicu further specialized in Breast Oncologic Surgery during a fellowship at the University of California in Los Angeles. Currently serving as a surgeon at UChicago Advent Health in Hinsdale, Dr. Raicu is deeply passionate about women's health and its societal impact, both at the individual family level and across society. Her long-standing desire to organize an event dedicated to women's health is now realized with the support of ROCO.

 

Dorina Scaunas, MD

   

Dr. Dorina S. Scaunas is a distinguished Obstetrician and Gynecologist currently serving as an OB Hospitalist at Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital. With a career spanning over two decades, she has dedicated herself to the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology, aiming for excellence in patient care and education across both academic and private sectors. Dr. Scaunas holds a notable background in Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology, contributing extensively to women's health through her roles at Women's Health Specialists and Associate Professor in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr. Scaunas's educational journey began with a B.S. in Biology and Chemistry from the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she graduated with honors and was a member of prestigious honor societies. She earned her MD from the Loyola Stritch School of Medicine and completed her postgraduate training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Illinois at Chicago. A dedicated researcher, she has co-authored studies on oxytocin receptors and the efficacy of cephalosporins in Cesarean sections.

Apart from her medical career, Dr. Scaunas is fluent in Romanian and has a rich musical background as a pianist and former choir director, showcasing her versatility and commitment to community engagement.

 

Ana Pruteanu, RD

   

Ana Pruteanu is a registered dietitian nutritionist with over ten years of practice. She specializes in weight inclusive nutrition for health conditions like diabetes, heart disease, eating disorders and overall wellness. Ana is the founder of Be Well Nutrition Counseling, a private practice offering virtual nutrition appointments that are covered by insurance. She loves supporting her clients in achieving their health goals! This may look like changing eating habits, improving health markers, or finding a way of eating that works for each person. Ana graduated with her Master's of Science in Nutrition from Northern Illinois University and Bachelor's of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics from Abilene Christian University.

 

Irina Staicu, MD

Dr. Irina Staicu is a board-certified cardiologist in cardiovascular disease, nuclear cardiology, and vein and lymphatic medicine. She currently serves as the President and Cardiologist at Barrington Cardiology , Good Shepherd Hospital and has extensive experience in invasive cardiology, pacemaker implantation, venous ablations, and nuclear imaging interpretation

Dr. Staicu earned her medical degree from the University of Medicine in Craiova, Romania, and completed her internal medicine residency at Case Western Reserve in Cleveland, Ohio. She further specialized in cardiovascular medicine at lLutheran Hospital in Park Ridge, IL.

A passionate advocate for women's heart health, Dr.
Staicu has dedicated much of her career to addressing gender-specific challenges in cardiovascular care. She has organized and spoken at numerous events focusing on women and heart disease, including the "First Annual Women's Health Summit" and lectures like "Women and Cardiac Disease in
2020.”

Her work emphasizes the unique presentation of heart disease in women, the underdiagnosis of cardiac conditions in female patients, and the importance of
tailored prevention strategies.
She has published articles such as "5 Reasons Why Heart Attacks Differ in
Women" and "Preeclampsia
May Signal Future Heart Problems in Women," highlighting her commitment to advancing knowledge in this critical area.

 

Adriana Konar, Psychologist

ADRIANA KONAR is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and the owner of AK Counseling and Psychotherapy, located in Schaumburg, Illinois. With 20+ years of experience in helping individuals, couples, families, and adolescents.
Adriana provides compassionate support to clients navigating trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, addiction, and life transitions. She believes therapy is a transformative journey that helps individuals reconnect with their true essence, fostering healing and resilience in the face of life’s challenges. By creating a safe and supportive space, Adriana guides clients toward emotional wholeness, empowering them to overcome the lasting effects of trauma and rediscover their inner strength.
Born and raised in Romania, Adriana has a rich background in education, working in schools and correctional facilities. These experiences have shaped a deep understanding of the importance of connection—both with others and with oneself. With a commitment to serving people from all walks of life, Adriana is dedicated to helping individuals build meaningful connections and find lasting healing.
