The Chicago Romanian-American community is holding a first General Community Meeting, to establish a Council of the Community, including all and any community leaders, representatives of the local NGOs, artists, and everyone else interested.

We will be collecting interest and suggestions for more participants for our next meeting, which is scheduled to take place in two weeks' time. During the next meeting, we hope to establish the initial formation of the Council.
Concrete proposals for today:
- Establishing the Chicago Community Council as a democratic body for the Romanian and Moldovan communities
- Establishing the Chicago Community Fund
- Open a Chicago Community Center, to belong to and benefit the entire community
