🌍 Introduction to Via Transilvanica

Via Transilvanica is Romania’s first long-distance hiking trail, spanning 870 miles (1,400 km) and crossing 10 diverse regions from Putna in the north to Drobeta-Turnu Severin in the south. This visionary project was initiated by Tășuleasa Social, led by Alin Ușeriu, and took nearly six years to complete, involving thousands of volunteers, local communities, and organizations dedicated to promoting Romania’s natural and cultural heritage.

The trail is designed to be a transformative journey, allowing hikers, bikers, and nature lovers to explore Romania’s rich history, scenic landscapes, and rural traditions. Recognized as Romania’s version of the Camino de Santiago, Via Transilvanica has quickly become a symbol of endurance, unity, and sustainable tourism.

However, the journey of maintaining and enhancing the trail is far from over. The project continues to rely on public support, partnerships, and advocacy to ensure that Via Transilvanica remains an accessible and well-preserved path for generations to come.
